Thoughts

What am I cooking?
I made BBQ Chicken tonight. Well Kevin actually cooked it on the grill. Raw meet is still giving me the creeps so he's been helping a lot in that department.

What are my weekend plans?
Saturday I'm going to look at some fabric for Mary-Grace's bedding. My MIL is going to help me make it. We may pick out paint colors if I find some fabric I like. Sunday I have a cookie exchange party! Yum!

What are my prayer intentions for the day?
Prayers for my prayer buddy of course! Also my anxiety. It's gotten pretty bad and I'm sure if I wasn't pregnant my doc would be recommending meds. I've been down that path and don't want to again.

What have I done for my marriage this week?
He was very happy with how clean the house stayed this week. I actually stayed on top of it! I also made him cookies on Tuesday.

What am I reading?
For the first time in as long as I can remember, nothing. I just haven't had the brain cells to comprehend much of anything.

What’s challenging me lately? Shaving my legs and painting my toes.

Something that made me think?
The annulment process. Does anyone know much about it. Not because I need one of course! Let me give you a situation (I don't want to name names). Say a man gets a divorce a year and a half after marriage (very sad). He wanted the divorce. He was actually the first to brig it up. The divorce was final about a year ago. He is interested in an annulment but has yet to start the process. He may have a valid case but I'm thinking it's definitely not a slam dunk situation. He is already dating a woman very seriously. Is this ok? I'm thinking no. Shouldn't he seek the annulment first? My thinking is, what if he is not granted the annulment? Then what? Isn't the annulment period (when sought soon after divorce as in this case) supposed to be a time of reflection? I have many more questions on this topic and will more than likely do a whole post about it soon. I just wanted to get a feel for how it works since I have no clue and I'm concerned about said person.

Happy almost Friday!!!!

  1. I can tell you that it's not okay for him to be dating another woman before there is a declaration of nullity. He is still married in the eyes of the Church. Was he married in a Catholic Church? Were they both baptized?

I am so jealous that you kept your house clean!!!

  2. Thank Leila! That is exactly what I was thinking. Unfortunately other than my husband and I (and 1 other person), no one seems to understand this. It baffles my mind. I do feel sorryfor this guy. It really is a sad situation, but he is still married in the eyes of God and the Church. And what's even more unfortunate is that a priest actually told him dating was fine. Or at least I was told a priest told him that. But honestly, who knows?

Don't be jealous about my house. It's never clean! You have 8 children, what's my excuse? :)

  3. He should speak with a person from his diocesan tribunal office. They can often meet with a person for a review of the process and his particular situation in order to give him an idea of his chances for being granted the annulment. Dating during this time is a no-no as he's still married in the eyes of the Church and the process can dig up deep hurts that are best handled without extra entanglements. Cost shouldn't be an issue, my diocese accepted $25 a month towards the costs when I couldn't afford more..and would have taken none. My annulment was the cheapest and best therapy I could have ever gotten.

  4. Karen, I know.... it's so frustrating when people don't get it, and when priests don't understand, either! I agree with Maureen that he should speak with someone from the tribunal. And yes, the annulment process is therapeutic, believe it or not... I've heard that before. Again, the Church is always helping, helping....

  5. You know Leila, K and I have been trying to get him to talk to our priest. He's the head of the marriage tribunal for our diocese! Who better to talk to? Buy, people have to make decisions on their own. You can't force him. I just feel so bad for this girl he's dating. She's not Catholic so very unaware of he process. But she's so young and very sweet. I'm afraid she's going to end up hurt. It's already gotten so serious and when he does finally start the process then what? I know our priest well. He's a very nice man but does not hold back. He will be brutally honest with him regarding dating. Then what? And what if is annulment is denied? Then what? So sad.

And yes, Maureen! I totally agree about it being therapeutic! I've never been through it myself but I have heard many stories about how great of an experience it can be.
